CAT FAQ's
Can we bring our own liquor?
We do not have a BYO license however there is a full bar facility on board with pricing that is below what you would pay on shore at night clubs and restaurants.
Where do you go?
Sea conditions determine each trip. The areas covered are along the Marine Parade,Port of Napier,Westshore,Bayview,Whirinaki. We don’t go out to far but enough for people to look back at the shore and see the lights at night and during the day give people an idea of how big the Bay really is.
What is the format for the dinner cruise?
You board between 6.15pm and 6.30. Cruise begins in the inner harbour then out into the Bay. We cruise until around 8pm then the meal is served while the boat is anchored in most cases. After dinner we have a great selection of music to dance to until we return between 11pm and midnight.
What is the format for the Lunch cruise?
Board around 10.45 to 11.00am. Cruise the inner harbour and then out into the Bay. Lunch is served generally when the boat is anchored around 12.30. After lunch we cruise the Bay while you enjoy the view the company and the wine or whatver you prefer to drink.
What if we have young children?
Children of all ages are welcome on board. We suggest the lunch cruise or the family cruises are the best. The evening cruise tends to be more for adults except of course if its a family function and then children can bring sleeping bags as there are places for them to sleep.
Do you have EFTPOS and credit card facilities on board?
Yes. Cards are Mastercard Visa Amex JCB and Diners
What does the meal consist of?
If you go to menus on the homepage you will find a description of the current menu.
We have people with special dietary needs. One is a vegetarian. What can you do for them?
If you let us know on booking your cruise we will prepare meals especially for those people.
Can we run a bar tab and pay for everything at the end?
Yes Let us know beforehand and we will load your name into the till. You can also select what range of liquor you want on your tab. ie Beer wine juice and you may ask people to pay for spirits.
What happens if its really rough?
Sometimes the land weather conditions are not the same at sea. So if there is a strong westerly wind blowing the sea may appear rough but the boat will sit quite flat. We want to make your cruise as comfortable as we can. The skipper will make the call on the day.
We have people who get sea sick?
Medication is available from chemists along with wrist bands that can assist. We have ginger syrup which may assist also. If you are really prone to being sea sick we suggest a shorter cruise. Maybe a 1 hour cruise to see how you are prior to coming on a longer cruise.
Can older people or people with walkers or wheelchairs get on board?
Yes We can carry them up the gangway if needed. They can sit upstairs and have their meal and a toilet is available.
Can we just do a short tea coffee and fingerfood cruise?
Yes Let us know what you require and we will design a cruise around that.
We are a company can we use the boat for staff training?
Yes Many already have. Good fun something a bit different. Let us know what you require.
DUCK FAQ's
Can we bring our own liquor?
No food or alcohol can be consumed on Duck charters. Could be a problem when we drive off the road into the water.
Where do you go?
We leave from the Information Centre (I-Site) on Marine Parade. Traveling south the Duck makes it’s way along Marine Parade, and back into the City heading around to the Port and into the water. Across to Port Ahuriri, up for a look on the road, and then back into the water to look at the boats. Out again onto Art Deco (Art Ducko land), through Napier’s central city returning to the Information Centre. Full commentary, lots of fun! Subject to weather conditions, an alternative route may be used.
Do we get wet?
You may get a bit of spray if the wind is really blowing however not a problem there are roll down windows
Is there a commentary and will I learn about Art Deco
Yes we have lots to share on aspects of the 1931 Earthquake and the Art Deco buildings both in the City and around at Port Ahuriri.
